Glasgow born draughtsman and engraver, secretary of the Society of XII, war artist 1916-18 and 1939-45, Trustee of: Tate, National Gallery and Imperial War Museum; Campaigner for Epstein sculptures, Old Waterloo bridge, Free entry to public galleries, Artist's copywright and Jewish refugee artists. Supporter of young artists including Epstein, Spencer Nevinson, Gwen John, Roberts and Bomberg. Most public collections of drawings and prints include some Muirhead Bone works (The British Museum has over 700 works).

An autobiography of Muirehead Bone was published in 2009, called Muirehead Bone, artist and patron, written by Sylvester Bone.

An illustrated catalogue of Muirhead Bone prints and drawings was produced for an exhibition at The Fine Art Society 148 New Bond St. London W1S 2JT.
A facsimile reprint of 'Glasgow in 1901' illustrated and partly written by Muirhead Bone with an introduction by Perilla Kinchin was published by White Cockade Publishing.
A facsimile of 'Days in Old Spain' (with Spanish text) is published by 'Frame' of Madrid 28006.
